Ductwork basics: why static pressure matters

Even a right-sized unit disappoints if the duct system cannot move the designed airflow. Static pressure is the tell: it shows whether the ducts are helping the equipment or fighting it.

What static pressure tells you

Static pressure is the resistance the blower works against. When it is too high, airflow drops, coils freeze or overheat, and rooms at the end of the run never get their share of air.

  • Undersized or crushed ducts raise resistance
  • Leaky connections lose air before it arrives
  • Poor layout starves the furthest rooms

The equipment is only as good as the ducts feeding it.

AirPrime field note

How we design to airflow targets

We size duct runs with Manual D, seal connections, and verify airflow at commissioning. The result is a system that delivers design airflow to every room, quietly and efficiently.
